Savannah and Carter celebrated their love with a fall-themed day that featured the most spectacular outdoor setting in Alabama that was super meaningful to the couple. They had been to that area to stay at Savannah’s parent’s lake house many trips before, so it was the perfect place to add more memories to. This ambitious couple not only took on planning a wedding while Carter was off on a Navy deployment, but also bought a puppy and moved all in the same year!
Their wedding day had that crisp feel of Fall and had a prominent color palette of burgundy, whites and natural greens. Savannah’s captivating dress was paired with an equally stunning bouquet of roses, anemone, protea and eucalyptus. This was the ultimate time of year for an outdoor wedding and nothing speaks ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ more than a country lodge surrounded by the great outdoors.
How they met and chose their venue: Carter and I met at the University of Georgia, but didn't start officially dating until after we both had graduated and moved to separate cities. After years of long distance and meeting up in different locales for weekend getaways we didn't feel beholden to any particular city for our wedding and began considering different destination wedding locations or venues in our college town.
One fateful weekend after getting a couple of quotes back from venues I was sitting at my parent's lake house with my family lamenting the fact that we already felt so out of our element planning a wedding. After listening to me explain how we wanted to get married outdoors, how we wanted it to feel private, and how we wanted the weekend to be relaxing and fun for us and our wedding party, my dad said, "well why don't you two just get married here?" The rest just fell into place after that - the following week I was connected to Karen through a coworker and she immediately got to work on helping bring our vision to life. Our big day ended up being deeply personal, full of love, and had us feeling right at home.

From the bride: Marrying Carter was my favorite part of the wedding day, but aside from that getting ready to walk down the aisle in my parent's lake house was amazing. I felt so at at peace drinking coffee on the back porch with all my girls, like we've done on so many Saturday mornings before. It was the most relaxing way to ease into the biggest celebration of our lives.
